I understand why this film won Oscars. Great story, great acting, well paced, visually interesting. I cared about these people. I didn’t want the ending I knew was coming to happen.

Penn was understated and really inspiring in this part. But then he is a really great actor.

And after vowing to never watch another Van Sant film after Last Days, I am glad we gave this one a watch.

Predictable film about some loser kids deep desire to lose his virginity. Fun moments such as the giant donut with a gun, the Amish community and Seth Green. The rest has pretty much been seen hundreds of times in various teen films.

Fast moving thriller about a father finding his daughter that was sold into the sex trade.

Suspenseful, with a happy ending, though less happy than one would expect.

It takes a special man to shoot a man’s wife in front of him to make his point.

Seventeen year-old Kim is the pride and joy of her father Bryan Mills. Bryan is a retired agent who left the Secret Service to be near Kim in California. Kim lives with her mother Lenore and her wealthy stepfather Stuart. Kim manages to convince her reluctant father to allow her to travel to Paris with her friend Amanda. When the girls arrive in Paris they share a cab with a stranger named Peter, and Amanda lets it slip that they are alone in Paris. Using this information an Albanese gang of human traffickers kidnaps the girls. Kim barely has time to call her father and give him information. Her father gets to speak briefly to one of the kidnappers and he promises to kill the kidnappers if they do not let his daughter go free. The kidnapper wishes him “good luck,” so Bryan Mills travels to Paris to search for his daughter and her friend.

We watched this film come together on Project Greenlight years ago and coulnd’t find it on cable until recently.

This film was actually pretty fun. The body count was high. The director started taking out cast members about 5 minutes into the film. A lot of the people in the film are people you recognize now including Eric Danes from Grey’s Anatomy.

The filming of the monsters was tight, always leaving you wanting to see more. Great effects for the budget, lots of fluids, crap loads of fluids. That had to be one of the wettest sets. The clean up between shots must have been grueling.

Fun. Silly. Suspenseful. There was actually no predicting who would go next. Loved the title cards identifying everyone and their life expectancy. Judah Friedlander is hilarious in his part while he goes through his transformation and decompostion. Nice kill of Jason Mewes.

And there are more in the series. Wonder if we can find them on cable (uncut) anytime soon. I am curious to see what happens in the follow ups.

Happy ending, rich guy, everyone finding their true calling? Well, how the hell could that happen in a Hollywood film straight from the best seller shelves of Borders and the plot machine for chick flicks?

Girl finds love in buying things. Loses everything, gets unexpected job giving financial advice while being stalked by creditors, finds love and a green scarf.

It was what it was. A chick flick/Saturday Night/popcorn film.

Visually stunning film that captured the look and feel of both the people, homes and film making look of the 1950’s.

Predictable plot about the ugly side of marriage, homosexuality, racism, and small town social circles in the 50’s.

So pretty to watch even if you have seen the film before under dozens of different names.

And, as usual, Julianne Moore gives a great performance and wears the hell out of all of those 50’s housewife/party giver dresses.
