Lantana (2001)

January 11th, 2009 · No Comments

Often I find Australian films endearing and often they have a sweet edge to them, even when they discuss really sad things. Lantana was not a usual Australian film. It was long. Took forever to get to any type of action.

The idea behind the film is that one woman’s death connects a variety of people. It appears that what it really did was ruin marriages and friendships as well as leaving one man with every woman in his life killed. Yep, it was as fun as it sounds and worse yet, it really wasn’t that interesting. Too many characters. Too few you might care about. The most interesting thing about this film was how the woman died.
