When you know how the story ends and you know it ends badly, it sort of takes a little bit away from the film. I did not realize what a conniving bitch that Ann Bolyen was and how forgiving her sister was (should have been nominated for sainthood), but then covering those tawdry details in my parochial high school world history class may have made it interesting. And we couldn’t have that. We barely touched on the black plague, so adultery, bastard children and seduction were taboo.
The film was beautiful. I highly recommend it in HD. It was a bit long, but interesting enough. The acting was spot on and the accents believable. Great costumes for all.
