Trekkies 2 (2004)

May 25th, 2009 · No Comments

I am not a Trekkie. I can honestly say that I don’t remember ever watching a full episode of Star Trek. There are parts of this movie that make me think that sitting down and watching a couple episodes might be an okay idea. They are presented as life lessons and unity plays by many of the European fans of the show.

But then, they spend all that time on the crazy people. Less time than Trekkies 1 did, but way too much time on people that think their Star Trek uniform is equal to a military uniform, people that make their house look like the Enterprise, and spend time dressing their cat like a member of the Fleet.

I understand community. I get enjoying something in pop culture and being a fan. I don’t get the whole dressing up thing. The bands are fun(ny), the conventions look interesting enough, but its a television show.

This film was less sad than Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade . And that is a good thing. And it was nice to see that the odd boy from the first film got a wife.

Sequel to Trekkies. Looks at European Trek fans and revisits some of the characters from the first film. Unnecessary.
