Heckler (2007)

June 28th, 2009 · No Comments

I took 2 things away from this film

  1. I need to make sure that my critiques are about a film and are not personal slams against an actor who I understand does not control all that happens in a film as he works with others, a director and a writer.
  2. Jamie Kennedy is a bit of a whiner.

I understand that people can be hurtful as a heckler or a critic. And sometimes people are quite vicious. But to do the same thing as these critics do when you are able to confront them is childish and shows how you might just be getting what you asked for. To ask a critic about various types of oral sex and how he might have given a better review if he had more sex sort of shows how not funny you just might be.

The two films that were mentioned over and over were “Miami’s Most Wanted” and “Son of the Mask”. Both were ripped apart by the critics. I have not seen Miami’s Most Wanted. I just didn’t have any interest in it after seeing a couple scenes. I saw Son of the Mask. It didn’t need to be made. There really wasn’t anything new happening in it. It just seemed like an excuse to use some of the same techniques from the first film but with updated tech. Did I hate it? No. Was I disappointed, well, yeah. Will I blame the collapse of the film on Jamie Kennedy? No. Everyone needs to get paid for something. I know the film bought one of the stars a house in my area.

So, Heckler, an ok film with a lot of cameos from various comedians and actors. Kennedy confronts hecklers poorly. Life goes on.

HECKLER is a comedic feature documentary exploring the increasingly critical world we live in. After starring in a film that was critically bashed, Jamie Kennedy takes on hecklers and critics and ask some interesting questions of people such as George Lucas, Bill Maher, Mike Ditka, Rob Zombie, Howie Mandel and many more. This fast moving, hilarious documentary pulls no punches as you see an uncensored look at just how nasty and mean the fight is between those in the spotlight and those in the dark.
