This may be the first film in the new category “Sometimes you just CAN NOT make a difference” (a sister category to “You can Make a difference”).
Walter does all he can to give people he just met a home and save them from deportation and he is powerless. This film is moving and sad. Not depressing because you do see the seed of human kindness and the want to do more for people, but when you see it not work out how everyone hopes you are thankful that this is not some Hollywood film where it would have been a very happy ending. The sad ending is sort of satisfying. Walter grows from the experience and becomes a more peaceful man since the death of his wife.
Great characters. Wonderful interactions. Natural growing of friendships. I enjoyed this sad film.
A widowed college professor travels to New York City to attend a conference and finds a young couple, who turn out to be illegal immigrants, living in his apartment.
