Though I have seen portions of Death Race 2000 (Corman) I have not seen the whole thing. This movie having Jason Statham, the guy that played Manny on General Hospital, Tyrese and Joan Allen (who is lovin’ playing evil) made me want to see this film. Of course, it also looked like a lot of great driving, explosions and basic carnage, which is never really a downfall for me with a film these days.
So, despite what all the critics said, we taped it in HD and prepared to be bored.
We were not. This film was fun. Did all the prison posturing sort of become bothersome? Not enough to take from the film. The driving was fun. The game was great.
This film went by fast. And it gave the sweet, hokey ending that Hollywood wants.
I would watch this again. And again.
