Ok, I lived within a short subway ride of Broadway and I only saw 2 shows in a decade and I only saw them because a guest wanted to see a Broadway show and they were willing to pay (at TKTS, not full price, who the hell can afford that?)
I remember 3 of these 4 shows, which debuted the year before I left the city.
Seeing what they go through to get a show on Broadway and how quickly things can change and something can close is pretty amazing. Big names can’t keep it going and critics can’t take down most things that get a good public response.
I sort of felt bad for Taboo during the film. If Rosie O’Donnell hadn’t been there, it seems like it may have had a chance, but would it have had any cash?
I guess the next play I am going to see will be Disco Inferno at the local high school, that is as advanced as my theatre attendance is these days. And I am ok with that.
Going behind the curtain to capture the most controversial, passionate, risky and high-profile Broadway season in decades.
