Everytime I see a film with Heath Ledger in it, it makes me sad. He transformed himself in every role.
The story has been told before in documentary form, but this was a bit more dramatic a take as no one needed to rely on old 8mm footage, television interviews or faded memories. They could just make it what they wanted. Great cast of young actors, many who have been seen in plenty since.
And bravo to the make up artist for Rebecca DeMornay. It takes some real talent to make her look that bad.

This sappy and overly sweet story of 4 girls entering adulthood and trying to come to terms with changes and prior connections is predictable…and that is sort of what I liked about it.
No surprises, a bit more angst than one would hope (hence the reason that around this house this film series is called “The Friendhood of the Angsty Gauchos”), life lessons for all, romance, and the predicatable gathering to reconnect.
I love the actresses in this film. We follow 3 out of 4 of them on the shows they appear on. But I can honestly say that I hope the loss of the pants means the end of this series. These actresses all deserve something a bit more challenging to the viewer.

Carmen Lowell is working on the backstage of a play in Yale. When the lead actress and friend Julia invites her to travel to Vermont with her to work in a play with professional cast, she decides to stay with her friends and her pregnant mother. However she finds that Lena Kaligaris will travel to a course of drawing. Bridget Vreeland is in existential crisis missing her mother and decides to travel to an archaeological dig in Turkey. Tibby Tomko-Rollins is working in a rental and still editing her documentary. Therefore, Carmen accepts the invitation and travels to Vermont. She has a crush on the lead actor Ian, who convinces her to participate in an audition, and is invited by the director Bill Kerr to perform the lead female role. Later she finds the truth about the friendship of Julia. The broken-hearted Lena finds that Kostas has just married and she dates the model of her class. Bridget finds letters addressed to her from her grandmother that her father has hidden and she decides to visit her grandma, disclosing a secret about her mother. Tibby makes love with her boy-friend Brian McBrian but they have problems with the condom and she gets scared of a possible pregnancy. In the end, the girlfriends discover that their friendship is real and more than a pair of jeans.
Not a film recommended by the Columbian Chambe of Commerce. This film looks at the kidnapping of a young man and what happens around him in an effort to save his life. Gripping, great play out of the time line, and quite the surprise ending.
Highly recommend, keep in mind it is very dark and some of it is subtitled.

Constantly referred to at this house as The Sisterhood of the Angsty Gauchos. Four friends keep in touch after leaving high school and find love and lives outside of their friendship.
And considering I can’t find ONE pair of jeans to fit ME perfectly, there is no way these jeans fit all of these different body types let alone perfectly. Nice premise, but it would have worked better with a t-shirt.
