A biographical film about Graeme Obree, a Scottish cyclist that broke world records on a home made bike and changed the cycling world with his technique.
The film showed the determination of one man and the support of family and great friends can make a difference in what one can achieve.
The film is uplifting though also shows the downside to someone that insists they either don’t have a mental illness or think they can take care of it themselves and the toll it has the potential to play on both their career and their family and friendships.
The film moves a little slow until you get to the first timed 1 hour record breaking attempt. It moved pretty quickly after that. Sometimes needed American English subtitles.
Wonder if I can make that big hill down the street on my bike this season?

Jake Gyllenhall plays a writer obsessed with the Zodiac Killer in California. The movie was good. Great cast. Full of “I know that guy” actors. It was just way too long. This movie was over 2.5 hours from opening to closing credits. It could have been 2 max.

Robert Graysmith is a cartoonist who works for the San Francisco Chronicle. His quirky ways irritate Paul Avery, a reporter whose drinking gets in the way of doing his job. The two become friends thanks to a shared interest: the Zodiac killer. Graysmith steadily becomes obsessed with the case, as Avery’s life spirals into drunken oblivion. Graysmith’s amateur sleuthing puts him onto the path of David Toschi, a police inspector who has thus far failed to catch his man; Sherwood Morrill, a handwriting expert; Linda del Buono, a convict who knew one of the Zodiac’s victims; and others. Graysmith’s job, his wife and his children all become unimportant next to the one thing that really matters: catching the Zodiac.

This movie was far better than we imagined it would be. It sat in the DVR Queue for months before we just finally broke down and watched it. It is a film that I thought was pretty good, despite Johnny Knoxville.
