Adorable fairy tale of a girl born with a pig nose because of a century old curse on her family and the man that loves her enough to give her up.
James McAvoy was again the nice yet flawed adorable guy. This may put us at having seen all of his films now. Catherine O’Hara was over the top as the mother. Sort of a blue blood version of her Beetlejuice character. Resse Witherspoon seemed wasted in the film.
A nice simple film with a good message. Worth a rainy Saturday afternoon watch, especially if you have daughters to watch it with.

A modern romantic tale about a young aristocratic heiress born under a curse that can only be broken when she finds true love with “one who will love her faithfully.”
This was a beautiful film with a bittersweet ending. I understand why this film was nominated for an Academy Award. Great story telling, beautiful scenes, amazing characters.

Fledgling writer Briony Tallis, as a 13-year-old, irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister’s lover of a crime he did not commit. Based on the British romance novel by Ian McEwan.
Charming little film about how Jane Austen became a ‘spinster’ and great writer. The McAvoy was cute but played a guy who was sort of a dick.

A biographical portrait of a pre-fame Jane Austen and her romance with a young Irishman.
Saw this in the theatre. Great action. Fun. Unrealistic. Big explosions. Lots of guns. All the things you want in an action film. And James McAvoy was great (and adorable). I really enjoyed this.

In 1985, against the backdrop of Thatcherism, Brian Jackson enrolls in the University of Bristol, a scholarship boy from seaside Essex with a love of knowledge for its own sake and a childhood spent watching “University Challenge,” a college quiz show.
Funny film about the disabled, until the very end.

When the kinetic Rory moves into his room in the Carrigmore Residential Home for the Disabled, his effect on the home is immediate. Most telling is his friendship with Michael, a young man with cerebral palsy and nearly unintelligible speech. Somehow, Rory understands Michael, and encourages him to experience life outside the confines of home.
No one could have done that part like Forrest Whitaker. He was almost too committed.
