Fun look at the world if no one except one guy was able to lie. Amusing. Takes a very cynical tone about religion, so if that offends you, I recommend you don’t watch this.

It’s a world where everyone tells the truth – and just about anything they’re thinking. Mark Bellison is a screenwriter, about to be fired. He’s short and chunky with a flat nose – a genetic pool that means he won’t get to first base with Anna, the woman he loves. At a bank, on the spur of the moment he blurts out a fib, with eye-popping results. Then, when his mother’s on her deathbed, frightened of the eternal void awaiting her, Mark invents fiction. The hospital staff overhear his description of Heaven, believe every word, and tell others. Soon Mark is a prophet, his first inventive screenplay makes him rich, and he’s basically a good guy. But will that be enough for Anna?
Depressing and interesting look at a comedian as he goes through a terminal illness, realizes he is pretty much alone and proceeds to try and mess up the good thing that the only girl he feels he loved has.
Great performances by Sandler and Rogen.

When seasoned comedian George Simmons learns of his terminal, inoperable health condition, his desire to form a genuine friendship cause him to take a relatively green performer under his wing as his opening act.
I was raised on the Dr. Suess books and used to love the illustrations. I appreciate that they kept that feel throughout Whoville, but sort of wish they had skipped their manic quest for realism in the jungle scenes. It is pretty enough, but it just didn’t feel Suess enough for me.
The story is one that almost every child is familiar with and there is nothing I can say about the story. It is appropriate for our time and a great story with wonderful characters. No disservice was done to the story.
So back to the animation style. I understand the reason for using a different style to a point for both worlds, but found the anime’ dream sequence of Horton’s to be way too off the path. It was almost as though it was shoved in there because anime’ is hot. I think it could have been skipped.
Beautiful film, fun voices, great story. Problems, but none that would keep me from recommending it and probably catching it again some day.

Whats the deal with Judd Apatow films and the penis? I have never seen the penis used as a comedic plot point in so many scenes in a film. And seriously, it was unnecessary and a bit creepy after a while.
So anyway, this film was not bad. I had read some mixed reviews, but generally like the cast, so we popped it into the DVR. I was not disappointed. The characters were interesting and not necessarily your standard Hollywood guy that just got dumped, rock star, tv star and hotel workers.
The hotel staff makes this film. They take in the poor guy that has been dumped and make him one of their own. The staff is fun, complex, silly, and move the film from scene to scene so you are stuck in the depression of Peter moping through the beautiful scenery.
As for casting, the fact that Kristin Bell’s character appears to be on some level based on her career and they spend time busting on her tv shows and films is quite fun and let me like her a bit more as an actress and actually have some sympathy for her character who really was a bit of a needy bitch. Russel Brand is someone I often find completely bothersome, but enjoyed as the rock star/whore in this film. His sex tips to the newlywed man was both touching that he took the time and disturbing in his willingness to demo on the beach.
An ok film with a nice cast, beautiful scenery, well rounded characters, puppets and way too much penis.

Morgan Freeman appears to be playing Morgan Freeman prepping for a role. Great dialogue, interesting character study of Freeman and the express lane check out girl. Fun, interesting shortish film.

Why the fart and boob references? Actually a fairly good tale without them.

Better than I thought it would be. Predicatable.
