Great voice cast in this sweet film about “Monsters” that defeat the aliens and save the world. The 3D thing is a bit overdone and really irrelevant when watching it on a television. But none of the effects were bothersome.

This low budget looking, boring film felt like nothing more than a long episode of Matlock with Kiefer Sutherland as the completely cliche’ overly predictable detective that smoked and drank too much and had bad music and even worse lighting.
Oh, but he hung out at gay bars, befriended transvestite prostitutes and was psychic. Yep, psychic.
The surprise ending wasn’t really that much of a surprise as it was a relief that the film was about to be done.
A very young and sparkly Jason Jones (“The Daily Show”) makes some extremely unneeded appearances in a couple scenes.
Usually I would say that I don’t recommend this film, but I am going to advise that you AVOID this film unless you have a deep deep need to complete the entire Kiefer Sutherland filmography (and what a grueling task that would be it appears).

Sometimes an actor always plays the bad guy. If you are going to have a thriller where you need to wonder until the last minute who the bad guy is, you shouldn’t cast the guy that always plays the bad guy. Other than knowing who was the mole from the moment his face showed on the screen, this was a pretty good thriller.
