This was another one of those films that was listed as a comedy, but so was not a comedy. It was a drama. Possibly a bit lighter than many dramas, I mean, it was not Schindler’s List, but it was not funny.
The film looks as a man who has been told he is about to die and the things he does with the information. This is all complicated by a stain on the side of his just bought house that a neighbor is sure is a miracle and the face of Jesus Christ. And it bleeds.
Not a bad film. Not a great film. Nice cast, some nice characters. It had Luke Wilson in it, so we had to watch it. Not sure if I would watch it again.

Henry Poole moves in to a house in his old neighborhood, to spend what he believes are his remaining days alone. The discovery of a “miracle” by a nosy neighbor ruptures his solitude and restores his faith in life.
Ok, you may ask, how did two people that have seen over 800 films in the last 5 years and EVERY Wes Anderson film not see this film before now. We asked the same question. It appears we both thought we had seen it, until we came across it and realized we hadn’t. So we watched it as soon as possible.
Great characters, wonderful natural dialogue, nothing really happens. Yep, it is a Wes Anderson film. And we enjoyed it. There is just something about the characters in these films that make the whole experience of taking in the visual and dialogue very enjoyable.
So now we have seen all the Wes Anderson films to date. It also adds another film to the Owen Wilson filmography for us. I hadn’t realize that he has been involved in the writing of some great films (mostly with Wes).
I look forward to Fantastic Mr. Fox – the next Wes Anderson film.

An estranged family of former child prodigies reunites when one of their member announces he has a terminal illness.
We came home from an exhausting day and overnight in New York City and just needed a fun little film that required no concentration. Legally Blonde fit this well.
We have seen this film before, probably multiple times. And it is a film I enjoy every time I see it. The film has that whole “you can do anything you set your mind too” and “don’t judge people by how they look” message thing going, but mostly it is just a fun film of a girl becoming more than she ever thought and doing it with a whole bunch of people that see different things in her.
I have to admit that I love the Jennifer Coolidge character in this film. So awkward and so good hearted. It is no wonder that Elle trust her almost instantaneouly. And Reese Witherspoon is really likeable as Elle, especially when she gets to Harvard.
No, this film will never make a top 1000 for best film ever made list. But it will almost always be on my “What a Fun Film” list. Should it have been made into a Broadway Musical? Well, that is a whole different debate.

While drying out on the West Coast, an alcoholic hit man befriends a tart-tongued woman who might just come in handy when it’s time for him to return to Buffalo and settle some old scores.
With a cast like this, it should have been so much better.

Upon his release from a mental hospital following a nervous breakdown, the directionless Anthony joins his friend Dignan, who seems far less sane than the former. Dignan has hatched a hair-brained scheme for an as-yet-unspecified crime spree that somehow involves his former boss, the (supposedly) legendary Mr. Henry.
