Great voice cast in this sweet film about “Monsters” that defeat the aliens and save the world. The 3D thing is a bit overdone and really irrelevant when watching it on a television. But none of the effects were bothersome.

When a meteorite from outer space hits a young woman and turns her into a giant monster, she is taken to a secret government compound where she meets a ragtag group of monsters also rounded up over the years.
I have to watch films with George Clooney in them. He is just damn likeable as well as nice to look at.
This film was witty, the pace was quick enough to not leave one thinking something should have been cut, and the chick was smart, funny, quick and pretty (enough). I didn’t even mind that the film was about football.
The relationships between the main characters was tight and fun. The fight scene between Clooney and Krasinski near the railroad tracks was quite amusing or at least the lead up to it where they both determine they should only be hit in the face. The initial meeting between Clooney and Zellweger had some great back and forth and kept that old movie feel of that building sexual tension through gesture and conversation that is lacking in so many movies today.
A film about a different time, using techniques from early films. Pleasant, fun, I’d catch it again on a rainy day.

A cub journalist playing in the big leagues, Lexie is a spitfire newswoman who suspects there are holes in Carter’s war story.
I never saw the stage play. Yep, lived in NYC for a decade and never saw it. I actually only saw 2 Broadway shows in that entire time, so my chance of it being this one weren’t very good.
But the movie was good. I often watch Academy Award nominated films and wonder how they got nominated. This deserved to be there. The music is great, but then Fosse always is. The dancing was amazing, the interpretation to the screen was flawless. Even Renée Zellweger seemed less squinty than usual. My only complaint would be Richard Gere. I just think someone else could have played the part better. He didn’t seem as devoted to the part as I would have liked. It was especially evident in the ventriloquist scene. He just didn’t convince me. I wanted his part to be bigger as in more flamboyant, not longer.
All in all, a satisfying musical that sort of makes me wish I had seen it on Broadway.

Murderesses Velma Kelly (a chanteuse and tease who killed her husband and sister after finding them in bed together) and Roxie Hart (who killed her boyfriend when she discovered he wasn’t going to make her a star) find themselves on death row together and fight for the fame that will keep them from the gallows in 1920s Chicago.
Fun enough animated story about the importance of bees in every day life. We have the option of putting a couple bee boxes in our field this coming Spring. We may just do it. And according to this film, it will make my garden come to life almost instantaneously.
