This should have been so much better. Who let Cera make that film, they should be fired.

While his trailer trash parents teeter on the edge of divorce, Nick Twisp sets his sights on dream girl Sheeni Saunders, hoping that she’ll be the one to take away his virginity.
Sometimes you watch a movie and when you try to find something to say about it you find you really don’t have much or anything to say.
I could go on about the portrayal of the gay men in this film. It appears from this interpretation of gay men, the moment you become gay you also start lisping, have a limp wrist, and like feathers and speedos. Though we can all use a ‘Butterfly’ in our lives, none of the gay men I know (and I live in the heart of the gay Catskills) are like that.
When it comes down to it this was a film about friendship and how everyone needs that one friend that would literally do anything for them. To couch such an important point in gay stereotypes and lispy silliness really did a disservice to the message.
And as for Adam Sandler portraying himself as a childlike firefighter that could get 5 Hooters girl and a doctor in his bedroom at one time. Only if the firefighter were much more rich and famous would that be possible. Oh, and the women would all have to be pretty stupid (see Hugh Hefner and his ‘girlfirends’ for an example. If Hugh weren’t rich and famous those women and their tiny IQs and large breasts wouldn’t have anything to do with him).
So, it was a film. Great message, flawed path.
Ok, I guess I did have something to say about this film after all.
And the strangest thing, I wondered where Rob Schneider was. He is in every Adam Sandler film. Uh, he was the Asian Minister. Yep, I was surprised too.

When you see a film with the line up of Steve Buscemi and Michael Pitt, you know one is going to be playing a loser and the other the cute damaged boy.
Now, why does Buscemi gravitate to playing losers? He doesn’t seem like he would be a loser. And it doesn’t seem to me like that is something you would always want to play. His losers are varied, but still. I sort of want him to play the romantic lead in a film with Hope Davis. But no one dies of a hideous disease or leaves. They just live happily ever after. I can’t think of 2 people that play characters that would eventually deserve it more.
There is a slightly happy ending for Buscemi’s character in this…he isn’t completely rejected. He doesn’t get what he wants, but he gets enough for him.
Pitt’s character is a homeless actor wannabe who finds fame. Pitt may be a guilty pleasure for me. He always look like he needs to be taken care of, money or no money, home or no home. And you can dress him up and take him out.
Great cast of unexpecteds from various comedy troups, small tv shows, and indy films.

An offbeat drama focused on a homeless youth, a pop music siren and a member of the paparazzi.
I didn’t expect a movie about Auschwitz to be upbeat, but this was a very hard watch. Great acting, great story about the jews that worked for the Nazis in the camp trying to give themselves a few extra months to live and thier revolt that destroyed 2 of the incinerators. The sacrifices they made to save others or at least try to slow down the events. Odd casting with David Arquette playing one of the jews. Keitel played a fuhrer. If you are up for a great hard hitting film, I recommend this.

A Nazi doctor, along with the Sonderkomando, Jews who are forced to work in the crematoria of Auschwitz against their fellow Jews, find themselves in a moral grey zone.
It could have been better. I was probably hoping for more. Lots of great dialogue, but still predictable.

After falling out with his editor, a fading political journalist (Buscemi) is forced to interview America’s most popular soap actress (Miller).
Did this need to be remade from the animated version of my youth? No. Was it entertaining? Pretty much. That was Some Pig and quite adorable too.

Wilbur the pig is scared of the end of the season, because he knows that come that time, he will end up on the dinner table. He hatches a plan with Charlotte, a spider that lives in his pen, to ensure that this will never happen.
You never know how funny or not funny something listed as a comedy with Denis Leary in it will be. I personally would have liked to have seen more of the writers in the apartment next door.
