Everytime I see a film with Heath Ledger in it, it makes me sad. He transformed himself in every role.
The story has been told before in documentary form, but this was a bit more dramatic a take as no one needed to rely on old 8mm footage, television interviews or faded memories. They could just make it what they wanted. Great cast of young actors, many who have been seen in plenty since.
And bravo to the make up artist for Rebecca DeMornay. It takes some real talent to make her look that bad.

The film follows the surf and skateboarding trends that originated in Venice, California during the 1970′s.
A film about corporate take overs, buy outs, small companies vs. giant corporations, good vs. evil, people vs. money told in the most uninteresting story possible.
A glow stick maker is failing. It is discovered that the companies product can be used to let farmers know when a cow is ‘in heat’ and can be fertilized as that is a small window. The company is offered a huge sum of money to sell the company and technology. You watch as the 5 partners change with the prospect of a huge sum of money becoming theirs.
Boring characters, predictable plot, un interesting ending. Nice Karaoke. Based on a true story. And if I ever do something that merits being turned into a film and it comes out this uninteresting and downright boring, I will take careers. I wish this film had Zombies in it.

Just as the business which Steve helped create, American Lightsticks, is on the brink of collapse, a huge ‘deal’ suddenly materializes, and he and his partners are sure that their lives have changed forever. A true-to-life comedy inspired by actual events.
This film is a reasonable attempt at “The Big Chill” for the ‘went to high school in the 80′s’ crowd, of which I am one. Of course, I wasn’t rich, not a cheerleader, didn’t go to great big parties with drinking and smoking, and my parents never left me in the house alone for a whole weekend.
I can sometimes imagine getting together with people I knew in high school that I particularly liked, but not dressing up like I was in high school and having some party that destroys property.
So, this film has too many people thinking that high school was their glory days (and if it was, that is sort of sad to peak so early). They soon learn otherwise, but I don’t think anyone needed to dress up like Madonna or Don Johnson do it.
And Eric Stoltz is looking younger in this film than he has a in a few lately. Though the speech pattern of his character was bothersome at times. Sort of took me back to his Some Kind of Wonderful days.
Where do I get me one of those rat rooms though?

An elusive serial killer known as the Zodiac terrorizes the San Francisco Bay in the late 1960s, while detectives aim to stop him before he claims more victims. Based on a true story.
